Is there any literature on what age children are able to tolerate capsules? For example, is it necessarily wrong to give capsules to a 7-8 year old?

The age they can swallow them.....

Don't you just ask the parent? 😕

I give tablets/capsules to my 5 year old because she absolutely refuses to take any liquid meds. And she has no problem swallowing an amoxicillin 500 mg capsule.

Depends on the patient, there are some fully grown adults that we have at our store who only take liquid formulations.

Haven't seen any literature - we usually fill what is written, assuming the physician has discussed the child's ability to swallow tablets/capsules already. If there are any questions, we just ask the parents.

My 9 year old has a hard time swallowing pills but my 6 year old nephew can down 'em like a pro.

Which meds? Are there other dosage forms available besides liquid/tablet? ODT/chewable. It's not necessarily wrong, but other forms may be more kid friendly.
