You know that one nightmare? The one where you got an F in a class that you never even knew you were registered for? :scared:

While entering transcripts into AMCAS, I discovered a summer school class I never knew about. Physical Chem, 1996. 😱

I have no idea why I ever would have registered for it in the first place, as I wasn't planning to stay in town for summer session. I didn't even have any of the prereqs completed for it. I have absolutely no memory of ever registering for this! But it was 15 years ago... hell, anything is possible.

I'm going to attempt to appeal this with the dean of the school in question, in hopes that perhaps I could get it changed to a Withdrawn. Has anyone ever done this successfully?

I would consider even going further and wonder if it wasn't just a computer screwup and petition to have it removed from your record completely. But that might not happen quickly enough for this years application cycle.

Yeah, I would go this route as well. You have a good case since you didn't even have the pre-reqs for it. You wouldn't have been allowed to register for it anyway. Dont accept a W if you can get it off completely.

I'll third the other posters suggesting to get it completely removed if you can. At my old school, you'd need a supervisory override to take a class you don't have the pre-reqs for. Seems like you'd have a good case for it.

I ran into the same issue but it was 25 years ago and it was 4 F's that I did register for but being a stupid 18 year old, did not realize if I did not show up for class they turned to F's.

I called the college to see if they could drop it, and they said I should have realized it the first year and they could not do any corrections after that point. I hope you do better.

In the meantime those F's have brought my GPA down from around 3.7 to a 3.5.

Oh ... The stupidity of our youth.

I heard back from them today and basically got the same story. Their academic policy states that these kinds of mistakes (whether computerized or due to serious lapses in judgment/sanity 🙄 ) can be corrected within the first year or so.

Fifteen years later... no dice. This stays on my transcript. 🙁
