Congrats on the interview! UF is a great school. The students all seem really happy to be there and they say the faculty is very responsive to their needs/concerns. I interviewed there this past week (my first and only interview so far (sorry for not posting it in the interview thread)). Just read over your file. The questions they asked were very basic and general.. Why dentistry? What is a shadowing experience that had a big impact on you? Why did you switch from Medicine (I applied to medical school in 2007)? How are you spending your time now? Academic history? Do you have any questions for us?

I was VERY nervous and don't think I interviewed well at all but that was my fault not the ad coms. Three people interviewed me in one sitting. It was about 25 minutes long They all had my folder out. Before you walk in, they read your file and get a feel for what they want to ask. During the interview, they take notes. Then when you leave they discuss what happened and finish up their notes. In November the entire admissions committee meets and the people who interview you present you using their notes as refreshers.

Just be calm, and do your best. Again, it is an excellent school and it is great that you got a pre-December interview there, so congrats again and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Hope your interview went well, Jenna. My interview is tomorrow and it is my first so far. This information has been very valuable. Thanks a lot!

😆

I'm hoping for an invite soon. I just turned in my supplemental. Does anyone know if they will give an interview out before receiving dental observation/research forms? I already had my PI send the research one but I just gave the observation one out.

On another note, I had to delete one of the above images to place my own due to a 10 image SDN restriction haha

Those forms are not required. They are optional so they will review your app without them. I did not submit those forms.

hey sphericalwave, if you dont mind me asking, how did your interview go?

To say the least I think it went alright. Was there anything in particular you want to know about it? I'm more than happy to help.

what kind of questions did they ask you? any tricky questions? was it more of a conversational type of interview or more like "interrogating"? i've been reading some past posts about UF's interview and it pretty much scared the crap out of me!

thanks so much for the help! 🙂

I was in a room of 4 people(dentist from nearby who graduated from UF in '02, faculty person, D4 student who gave the tour of the school, and the assistant dean lady, Dr. Sposetti). They were nice, acknowledged my answers, but yet still fired questions left and right. I'd would say it was mostly "interrogating" but they stopped at times to make small talk which was nice. I should have prepared more for questions like "What is the role of the dentist in the community?" and "Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?" They asked to describe myself and what do I like to do hobby wise(completely thrown off by that and made me respond with what I could think of off the top of my head). Obviously they started off with the classic "Why dentistry?" and asked later about my research and leadership positions. If you need anything else, let me know or just PM me at your convenience. I'm assuming you have an interview and if you do, when and what time? Mine was Sept. 29th at 2:30.

I'll save you a story leading right up to the interview, kinda threw me off a little if you ask me.

Hope that helps!
