Got a B in my first physics test and just took the 2nd one today and probably did worse than the first one.

AND to make it even worse (I go to a community college)

Yes it's definitely over. You'll need at least a 30+ on your DAT to make up for it 🙂

OMG..how could you do worse..and at a community college 😱 Yea, I'd send in an application for work at McDonalds immediately. GL

I am serious guys🙁

yep... its all over for you 🙁

I am serious guys🙁

well in that case....

You think a school is going to base their entire decision on one grade? If it did that, you wouldn't see 4500 people acceted into dental school... instead, you'd see 45.

Come on guy, get real here. Dental admission process is heavily based on the GPA (aka Grade Point AVERAGE ~ keyword = average). Its all about your averaged performance. Doesn't matter how many Bs, Cs, Ds, and even Fs you got... if your overall numbers are good, thats all that matters IMO.

Throw in the towel, a B, are you kidding me!? No one dental school right now has ever gotten a B in a class, especially physics!

Hang in there, if you get another B though, donzo...

Seriously, study your ass off, kill the final, and spend your time worrying about something actually worth worrying about..finishing with a C in physics isn't gonna make or break you - I finished with a C in micro, sold my textbook, burned my notes, said I'm never taking this s*** again, and then saw it was part of d-school..fml

Have you thought about dental assisting or becoming a hygenist instead? Actually, those programs are competitive too.

Have you thought about dental assistant assistant programs? Or dental hygenist assisting? 🙂

I am just really pissed because I seriously studied hard for the test.

It happens. You win some you lose some. It's a part of life. I know how that feel though. Not doing as well as you would've hoped on something. Right after, you feel the world is over.

Wait a few hours, have a beer, relax... Things will go back into the right perspective and you'll realize you were worrying for nothing.

I almost broke a window. There was a question with 2 parts. I got the right answer for both but switched around. Can you believe it?:scared:

the good news is... its over. You will never look at physics again.

I still got one more test. And one more semester of it:laugh:

I am assuming this is physics 1 right? you'll never see mechanical physics again. physics 2 IMO at least, was way more interesting. Your going to learn about electricity, day and night different from physics 1

Yes. It is physics one. You don't need a good foundation in physics I for physics II?

When I had physics I, I had an F in the class up to the final (hardly went to class or studied). The prof allowed us to replace our grade with whatever we made on the final. Decided to buckle down for a day and study (taught myself everything), and made a B on the final, which gave me a B for the class (cool huh?). Unfortunately, that same prof. didn't teach physics II. So the same method wouldn't fly that time around. Took physics II 3x. Of course, this was back years ago when I was sowing my wild oats. It's not that I necessarily was bad at physics, I just didn't care at the time. Point is, it won't keep you out, but you don't want to allow the admissions committee's to build up a reason to not accept you or draw any red flags.

Seriously, it's a B! Get over it...wow.

what a drama queen..

it's only one course out of how many courses you'll take over 4-5 yrs?

hmm... I took physics 10 years ago... from what I remember, there was no relationship between the 2.

ofc I am not saying phy 2 is easier, but TO ME, it was much more interesting to learn about electricity and circuits than newtons 3 laws.

What is with all these posts lately about such trivial things? Stop worrying about little things and enjoy your life.

ALL YOU GUYS WHO HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED CAN ENJOY LIFE. BUT in the mean time I can't enjoy life until I finish my undergrad with good grades and get accepted. I am about to go into depression

Over a B???? Dude, people like you annoy me. Seriously, get a life and stop worrying about dumb stuff like this. Jesus...

Are you serious? If you are freaking out over a B, your interviews should be very interesting.

SN1 you came to the wrong place to ask for opinions. Student doctor network is just full of trolls and more trolls. a place where nerds come to belittle others like. pk26 is a good example

I am going to say the same thing to you SN1. Get over it. Its a freaking B. Don't make people hate you for trolling.

and I haven't got accepted.

This guy has got to be kidding. Have you never received a B before?

:troll:

This is what I'm getting at right here. Don't show this kind of stuff at interviews...it makes you seem kind of "nerdy" and weird. Sorry, but it's true. Just relax and do your best.

I used to be a so-so student back in high school and my grades were only good enough for low tier universities. I buckled down and went to a community college and received a 4.0 through 50 credits. Seriously the lowest test I have ever gotten is an 83 (B) and that was my first physics test. I aced all of my other tests in organic chemistry and calculus. The possibility that I no longer will have a 4.0 just makes me sad. Especially for the amount of studying I put.
I wouldn't call myself a nerd. Yes I study a lot but I work out 3 times a week, play sports outside, and sometimes hang out and have a couple of drinks with some friends.

Yes I know that this forum is filled with annoying nerds who like to use their fancy vocabulary words but I am hoping that there are other cool fellas as well:laugh:

wer just messing with you SN1 :meanie:
One day when you get accepted (and trust me, with a sub 4.0 GPA, its only a matter of time), you should come back and read this thread out loud to urself.

Eh....I got a B and a B- in physics I and II, got a F in O chem I cause I failed on purpose (long story), 2B-, and I also have 3 C+s. Look where I am now? That's right, 2 months left in my 1st year of dental school education. Don't trip over small things like this, GUNNER....BANG BANG

thank you for the inspiration

SN1 you have to sometimes chill out the only thing you can do is to get a higher grade in phy II. You would be surprised at the number of people that get in to dental school with D's and F's they just fixed their GPA's. From what I see you might end up with a 3.9 or 3.8 and that is a damn good GPA. To answer the question: no your dream of becoming a dentist is alive and well. I have an F for bio II and I know I'm going to be accepted either this cycle or the next.

I really hope people like SN1 are not my future Dental School Classmates.

so you have a near perfect gpa, and you get one B and freak out? aren't you more intelligent than that?

sorry but i can't stand people like you... i just don't get it

if you have ever read the official ADEA dental school book, then you would have read the gpa statistics and there is no school that average a 4.0 gpa, i believe.

Or if you have even seen the 3.0 gpa club thread here, then you will know that people of varying gpa's get into dental school.

you got a b in physics...so what? it's not tested on the DAT and biological sciences are more heavily tested once you get into dental school.

i'm sorry you're feeling the wrath of others but it seems you aren't down to earth as others. you have a near 4.0 gpa and you're worried? wake up, buddy.

I guess I should stop being a lil b*tch🙂

Well everyone WILL fail something in dental school either a practical, a wax up, test case, or exam/quiz. I guess that experience will warm you up on what's coming ahead in the future.

I got a B- in physics one and two and a B- in intro to Bio!! Then my sci grades started to improve...but yea don't get too bogged down. I remember when I use to freak out over a B!

Wait til you get your first D or F. Then panic. A little 😎
