Whats up guise.

I am starting my first year in July and I was just wondering what others in my position are doing to prep.

Are you refreshing your anatomy knowledge? Disregarding books all together? Traveling? Discuss please.

Finishing up some research projects and prepping the lab for my departure (counting my PI, there are only 3 of us)...brushing up on anatomy/histo (I've already taken it at the medical school level)...traveling and spending time with family/friends.

NOTHING. Enjoy your life.

If you MUST do something, learn to cook, fix your car, and budget wisely. Seriously. Learn to cook if you don't know how.

DONT DO A SINGLE THING! Sit in front of your TV and vegetate...best prep for med school period.

Yes. For the love of God. Listen to this person. Med schools is rough, unforgiving, and life consuming (for the first two or three months til you get the discipline down). Nothing you can do will prep you, despite what other pre-meds will tell you.

Just relax and pick a show you really want to watch and watch the whole series. I suggest "The Wire". Show will change you life.

😆 😍 :biglove:

love the animated gif .... I needed a good laugh

Agreed with above responses. Go enjoy life, hang out with friends, family, watch a good movie, anything non-academic non-medical. Stay safe. Don't do anything stupid. You'll be surrounded soon enough by notes, binders, highlighters, neurotic med students, equally crazy professors who expect you to memorize every word in his 76 powerpoint slides/hr (for his 3 hr lecture) for the exam, etc.

Thanks, braddah!

I am more of an "Archer" fan but I might have to check it out.

Do exactly this during your summer. Nothing else. Well, maybe the beach.

I'm hanging out with friends and family, as well as saying my last goodbyes to acquaintances.
I'm also sorting and packing...I've moved several times before but it still amazes me the amount of crap I manage to accumulate over a short period of time in a small space!

I'm also sorting through all my 'clutter'...I can't believe the amount of paper I've saved...I have math tests and homework assignments from as far back as the 3rd grade!

And I thought I was bad for still having my college applications in my file cabinet 🙂

I did a major downsize when I moved from NY to New Orleans and it's amazing how much stuff I've managed to accumulate in the 3 years I've been here. I'm now on a first name basis with the folks at the Salvation Army.

Just in case you don't believe everyone before me, enjoy and organize your life. Don't try to prepare academically/medically. Get your other issues in order and do things you;ve been putting off. Good luck and buckle up.

Had to laugh at that, I feel the same way. I leave my job in a week and I have a couple vacations planned. Going down to Atlantic City at the end of the month for a 3 day Dave Matthews Band festival. The next week I am going to Watkins Glen for 3 days of Phish. Then of course packing and moving.

And "Justified". If you haven't watched this show, sit your butt down this summer and enjoy some well written US Marshalls - Hillbilly Hoot-n-nanny. Yeah, no one knows how to spell that...

I also second the cooking part, and would add having a regular work out routine before you start school.

A great book I endorse is Men's Health Muscle Chow, which has a 150 delicious, easy to make recipes (most recipes can be made in 5-45 minutes) they are all 100% healthy.

DMB Caravan in AC. Trying to get a group together to go see that myself, maybe I'll see you there! Incredible line-up.
