Do any of you recall what your scores were (if applicable) on AAMC Tests #7 and #8, relative to any/all of the other (preferably) AAMC practice tests that you took - or for that matter, any practice tests?

I'm a little over a week out and I am just trying gauge my progress. On my break right now, about to start BS.

Anyways, my Princeton Review course Online Student Center says that AAMC Tests #7 and #8 are, "a little more difficult than the current real MCAT."

So today, I am taking test #7 and have gotten a 9 on PS and an 11 on VR (of which passages were noticeably longer).

Thoughts? Thanks y'all.

I just checked...
AAMC 8: PS-11, VR-11, BS-11
AAMC 7: PS-10, VR-11, BS-11

I think that you might have misunderstood me. According to PR Online Student Center, both test 7 and 8 are harder than the other respective AAMC tests.

Could you speak to your scores on 7 and 8 relative to other exams?

Thanks all !

My scores:

3: 27
4: 32 (10/11/11)
5: 35 (10/14/11)
7: 40 (13/14/13)
8: 35 (12/11/12)
9: 39 (13/13/13)
10: 36 (12/12/12)
11: 35 (11/11/13)

Some random thoughts:

All were taken under realistic test conditions. As you can see, 7 was my best score so I certainly don't think it was the hardest! That said, everyone has their own personal strengths and weaknesses so there is some luck involved.

I think that I underperformed a little on 8 because I had a wicked headache that day. I could hardly concentrate during verbal! Subjectively, 10 and 11 felt the hardest. However, I was getting pretty burned out by the time I took them. They may have felt a little easier if I had been fresh.

I took the real thing on 5/26 (scores come out this Tuesday). It felt much harder than any of the practice tests. However, I don't think this was because the test was much harder but rather because the stakes were much higher. I was pretty relaxed during the practice tests, but found myself constantly second guessing on the real thing--so be prepared for that. I predict that I will be toward the lower end of my practice range, but I don't think anything will surprise me on Tuesday. Good luck with your studying and on test day!

Oh....one more thing: No getting on SDN during your sections breaks! You won't be able to distract/refresh yourself like that on test day, so don't get in the habit.

Did you take AAMC #3 early on in your studying? That seems like a steep score increase, I am wondering because I am taking AAMC #3 tomorrow.

Medicine Man - not sure of the extent of the merit of this, but my PR Online Student Center also states that AAMC Test #3 is easier than the current MCAT

AAMC 7 - 31 (10/11/10)
AAMC 8 - 37 (13/12/12)

Yes, I took 7 a few months before I took 8, before I had done any real content review. Still, 8 was my best score of all of the AAMC's, while I have seen many other people complain about how difficult it was and how it was there worst score. So, like a previous poster said, it's gonna vary a lot and depend on you. Don't freak out if you do poorly on an "easier" test, or get cocky if you do awesome on a "harder" test.

Yes, I took it before doing any content review....quite a few months before any real studying. Just wanted to get a feel for the test. Then I had about a month between 4 and 5 and another month between 5 and 7. 7 through 11 were all in the 3 weeks leading up to the real thing.

Here's a little "disclaimer" before I tell you my opinion, and this may seem like common sense, but it's always good to hear this from multiple people: I took the May 26th exam this year, and in my preparation and speaking with my friends, it really seems like tests that are extremely difficult for one person may be rather simple for another person, of similar abilities. It all comes down to what specific topics they test, which ones you are strong with, and how you handle the particular jumbled wording of the questions.

That "disclaimer" aside, I scored above my average on test 7, but then I scored my lowest score on any exam on test 8. I really felt that 8 was far more difficult than any of the other exams that I had taken. I also heard from someone (I can't confirm this since I didn't bother to check) that The Princeton Review course tells its students that AAMC 7 and 8 are more difficult than the actual MCAT.

I have taken 7 full lengths so far betwen Kaplan and AAMC. Actually took AAMC 7 this morning and so far it has been my highest total score with a 13P/10V/12B breakdown. I got 3 questions wrong on PS, one of which was a selection error which would have boosted me to a 14... and PS is by far my weakest section. Going to take AAMC 8 on Tuesday.

Don't listen to anyone regarding the difficulty of one test as opposed to another. As mentioned, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. You may get lucky and the topics tested are all things you understand fairly well.. while another person may get the exam and get two passages that test two of the few topics they didn't completely comprehend so they are immediately at a disadvantage. Don't worry about the diffiuclty before taking them. Just take each exam like it will be the hardest one you've taken so far.

I did 7, 8, 11, 9, 10 in that order and 7 was just below my mean (and was the mode) score, while 8 was my top score (40)

my scores were

#7: 36 (13-10-13)
#8: 40 (14-12-14)
#11: 34 (11-10-13)
#9: 36 (13-10-13)
#10: 38 (13-11-14)
Real MCAT: TBD (Exp. PS 10-12, VR 10-12, BS 12-13)

The real thing is, without a doubt in my mind, (much) tougher that 7 or 8. It's kind of like 11's BS except 11's BS is the real thing's PS. VR was pretty easy on my real test. Do the official guide materials. Those were almost identical to my test. There were also several passages I could've sworn they'd just lifted straight from the 2010 TBR Physics book.
