3 schools on I-35 under the sky
7 for pre-meds who don't want a D.O.
9 for Baylor applicants doomed to cry
One Match for TMDSAS on its Dark Throne
One Match to Rule Them All, One Match to Find Them,
One Match to bring them all, and in stressful waiting bind them
In the Land of Texas where Chuck Norris lies.

....okay, that was fun. Pre-match season starts in three weeks! Good luck, fellow Texans and possibly-future-Texans. Anybody else starting to get antsy?

I'm glad I didn't let whatyousay talk me into starting this thread. I would've never been able to come up with a cuter title/poetic introduction .

Good luck everyone :luck:

Whoot, there is finally a ROT thread for the class of 2016!!! Great intro/title kkuhn.

Only 19 days left to pre-match fellow texans 🙂

Texas really needs to start sending pre-match offers October 15. Pretty please?

Also, love the poem.

Is the original post a Harry Potter reference?

Good luck guys and gals 🙂 Hope to see everyone happy on Nov 15th

19 days!

Is anyone else planning to spend the evening of November 14th in a celebratory fashion? Because I sure am.

And if I don't get in anywhere on the 15th... well, hopefully I won't remember it.

What schools have shown up on your rank list?

Only UT Houston. I interviewed there early September, and my other two interviews were mid-October. This leads me to think its a processing-time issue...

Good luck and welcome to those coming to UTMB!

From what I've heard, most schools take at least 2-3 weeks to show up on your rank list (although UTSW actually showed up on my rank list the day after my interview, for whatever reason).

Every school I interviewed at is up at the moment. Did not interview at Houston though. They rescinded my interview invite 🙁. I still found my way into Houston though!

They can do that?😕 Why?

I had my UTH interview scheduled on the same day as another interview, so when I asked to change the date UTH told me I would essentially be forfeiting my spot if I didn't go on my assigned date. I suspect that's the situation for MayoorBust.

Wow, that's lame and a tad unprofessional.

I think asking to reschedule your interview for another interview just tells then that they aren't a top choice.

I know someone who rescheduled their interview for a wedding quite easily.

I didn't mention that I was rescheduling because I had another interview on the same day; I simply said I had a conflict that would prevent me from attending my assigned date. They didn't ask me to elaborate -- just told me take it or leave it. I originally wanted to reschedule UTH not because they were my second choice but simply because I had received the other interview invitation first and RSVP'd for the other one weeks beforehand.

same thing happened for me. their loss.

How about I wait after pre-match!

can someone tell me how they do the texas match now?

I'm just saying, put yourself in the adcom's shoes. Scheduling all this is already an enormous task, and it would be a nightmare to allow anyone and everyone to reschedule. I know that as an applicant it doesn't seem fair but sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.

I know it's annoying and you don't want to piss another school off, but if you really want the interview then at least try to reschedule with the other school first. And if worse comes to worst, pick which school you'd rather go to and cancel the interview at the other.

I got my interview invite taken away as well. If a school like UTSW can set up a system where you pick your interview date. I think UT-Houston could have done more to work with applicants. This process is expensive, competitive and trying. UT-Houston will be fine though great school and I am sure they can ask an applicant to interview a day in advance and that individual will come running.

most other schools had no problem with rescheduling. some of them interview just as many people as houston.

Then it shouldn't be a problem to reschedule with them. I have nothing to do with admissions, and I'm not saying that our office's policy on rescheduling is the best. But I don't think it's a matter of professionalism so much as it is a matter of logistics.

I completely agree. The office should have done more to work with you guys, and I'm sorry for the circumstances. The same thing happened to me during my app year, but luckily my conflict was an interview at Baylor and they let me interview at both schools on the same day.

Wow, that was my conflict. Oh well!

This is how I feel about UT-Houston

This is exactly what I did, and I'm glad I worked things out that way. I was amazed at how much my first UTH interviewer and I had in common! It was one of my best experiences with an interviewer this cycle. 🙂 If UTH intentionally takes the time to find faculty interviewers that match the applicants' interests, I can understand why they make it so difficult to reschedule.

Would AMCAS even exists to Texas applicants if Baylor was included on TMDSAS?

I wouldn't have even bothered applying AMCAS, personally. But I'm pretty set on staying in-state. 🙂

Glad someone finally made this. If it wasn't made before match I was getting scared I'd have to come up with the title. I've been thinking about it since August.

15 more days :scared: I'm def. blowing off senior year and the rest of my interviews if I pre-match at my top in-state choice

I got a couple acceptances in hand and I find it hard to just blow off classes. I feel there is more pressure to perform when people hear you get into medical school. I graduate early so I definitely will get a big break!

Hey what are the start dates for all the Texas schools?

Baylor: July

Well, I'm freaking out about my first interview next week. Having an interview on the 7th, do I have any chance pre-matching on the 15th or is that just too soon? Has anyone ever had an interview a week or 2 before pre-match and gotten an offer?

Depends on the school.

And remember, Nov. 15 is just one day during the prematch period. Just because you interview close to or after the start of prematch doesn't mean you're automatically excluded from all that prematch goodness.

El Paso starts early July, July 7 or 8 IIRC. They have 3 weeks of "immersion" or something like that.

A&M starts the last week of July. dunno about the rest.

I think my Tech-Lubbock interview was around late October last year and I pre-matched, but not until November 20th. They'll send out more offers until Dec. 31 (or that's what it was last year, I believe), so don't get too down if you don't see an offer on the first day.

November 15 is the start of No-Care November.
