Well, guess I'm starting this one off 🙁 2 of my evaluators never submitted their eLOR's to the ETS system... so bummed... three more to go... ::crosses fingers::

Oh dear! Does this mean that you don't have enough recommenders for any of the schools you applied to, or are you okay on that score?
 
Yes, I applied to three other schools, so I still have a shot...

They sent their eLOR's to the VMCAS but didn't send it to the Colorado Supplemental System 🙁 They have an extra system this year (not sure if it's the first year, I'm thinking they are testing it to see if they want to switch? maybe...)
 
Already mentioned this in the NCSU thread. Bit of a bummer, but I had it on my "slim to no chance of acceptance but I'll go ahead and apply anyway" list of schools, so it wasn't a shock. 😉

I had similar feelings about Colorado, but I was hoping for at least a slim chance lol... oh well... Good luck on your other schools!!

That sucks! Hopefully you have more schools you're waiting to hear from.

I am an OOS applicant at Illinois as well - not home right now so will be prepared when I check the mail tonight - my overall GPA isn't great so I suspect I have one waiting for me at home as well.

Can't say I'm pleased to be the first one posting a flat out rejection especially when so many others got their invites for interview at around the same time. Oh well, two other schools to wait on!
 
I saw on here people were getting letters from Illinois, so I told my husband we need to check the mail. Sure enough, a thin envelope 🙁

Me? I applied to Colorado, Minnesota, Virginia and Illinois. I was trying to target schools from the VMSAR with lower admitted GPA. The letter from Illinois said avg OOS was 3.68! Jeez. My piddly 3.4 doesn't stand a chance.
 
So sorry everyone who has gotten rejections, try not to let it get you down. It is the school's loss. Hoping you guys get good news soon from one of your other schools!

Our mean GPA last year (so, for my class) was 3.61 (pre-req)/3.73 (last 45). Is that really that low compared to other schools?

Missouri's OOS was something like 3.8 for our class. But take that with a grain of salt-- Missouri is very grade focused and unforgiving for OOS applicants.

I thought that Missouri is experience focused school not the grade focused one. (Al least VMCAR states that grades+GRE is only 40% of total score.) And i also remember something about importance of variety (different scores for each experience - SA, LA, lab, food, etc). Am i wrong?

Does this not mean your OOSers are total anti-social nerd homebodys? I mean no offense, of course 😛. I'm just starting to realize my 3.6 GPA is not as competitive as I thought...
 
Why is everybody going crazy about averages? If the average is 3.6, that means that some 3.4ers got in along with some 3.8ers. Keyword here is average. It does not mean "3.6 or above or you will not get in".

There are certain schools, like Wisconsin, where the OOS average is 3.85 and IS is 3.7 so obviously if you have low GPA it isn't the school for you to apply to. North Carolina is one that the average for accepted IS is 3.72 for cumulative and for OOS the cumulative average is 3.90. So, there are schools with really high GPA averages for OOS.

(OOSer, so I'm allowed to say that.)

To the person above who talked about their 60/40 grading scale... yes. But I believe they use a GPA cut off for narrowing down the initial pool. Remember that ~900 people apply for 60 spots, and part of the non-academic score that is 60% of your evaluation is an interview. I don't believe the formula is applied unless you are an in-stater or are offered an interview.
