senior in high school

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
someone looking for compliments?

it shocks me that this person would devote a section on her website to glorifying her own MCAT scores (if this isn't bogus)

anyone missing the irony here? if she/he really is a senior in HS, that great MCAT score won't be valid for anything but showing off-
they're only good for three years...
but hey, whatever floats your boat...

wow, you have no chance at medical school unless you learn how to write these next few years. better start practicing.

Why are people so envious and have so much contempt for talented high school students?...

Hats off to anyone who can get a 42 on the MCAT, let alone in high school. That said, there is no reason why you need to go around bragging about it. A person who scans her MCAT score, uploads it on a website, and then posts the URL on a forum with a whole lot of pre meds is not a person to be envied. This is a person who has no humility; a person who needs to reaffirm her own self worth by bragging about herself.

A 42 is a commendable score, regardless of whether or not it will be valid. So good job, me9! 🙂

wow, im glad i'll never meet you in real life.
oh yeah, i got a 43s- study up kiddo
yeah

Hmm that's interesting. The www.kayaull.com homepage hasn't been updated since 2000. It also contains some in-depth analyses of Leo Tolstoy's works that I doubt could have been effectively done by an 8th/9th grader, considering if this individual is truly a 2004 senior in high school.

Great way to get your name out there, Katherine Aull. 🙄 Your karma will be rewarded one day.

TF

ps crazee8 - Why is every post of yours so outrageously worthless? Have you posted anything on this forum other than to bludgeon others with your understanding of quantum physics? I think you an Katherine Aull are soulmates. Happy hunting!

oh sorry thats not mine... i was just shocked when i saw it and thought it was interesting

Lord help me, you got great scores and that should be reward enough. Now maybe if you try devoting a bit less time studying for exams that mean very little in the big scheme of things, and more time trying to learn some social skills, you won't need to fish for compliments from online strangers the next time you get something to show off.

Take it from me--a good, strong dose of Spearman's G factor will become a curse if you walk around feeling superior because of it.

Sorry, but I don't even see where she says she's a highschool student. Indepth look at the works, life, and person that was Tolstoy? Something just doesn't fit.

She posts on the princeton review message board under "Sunflower." She was on the Biology Olympiad USA team. Google her.

My bad for thinking it was you me9.

This Katherine Aull goes to TJ in Northern Virginia. Shoulda known. It's rated the best high school in the US after Stuyvesant in NYC. Well, I guess it's heartening to know that it isn't the average HS senior getting 42's on the MCAT.

Congrats to her on the achievement, but a big thumbsdown for publically posting her scores for no apparent reason. She needs a boyfriend!

any idea where you can get a list of the best highschools in america?

"oh sorry thats not mine... i was just shocked when i saw it and thought it was interesting"

My apologies for thinking that you were bragging about your own stats. Posting it on a website is still not cool though

"TJ is nationally known as the one of the most prominent public high schools in America as it is very selective and you need to present very high scores on the admissions test. "

There is nothing public about a school that requires an admissions test. That sickens me to the core.

Indeed. And just who rated TJ the best high school in America?

I've seen various different HS rankings, and TJ consistently lands in the top 3 in virtually all of them. However, it should be noted that TJ is not a classic public school, rather it's a magnet school for science and technology that pulls in the brightest kids from the NOVA-DC metro area.

Stuyvesant is a public magnet school as well. Yes, you have to take a test to be admitted, but it's also free! Ala a full scholarship to a higher level of high school education. I'd say that's a pretty sweet ride.

And yes, Andover is also a reputable school. But we're talking here about public schools that only require merit for admission, not mommy and daddy's money and connections. Come off it.

Umm Mr. TheFlash, the very wealthy and elite make up less than 1 percent of the student body! So many people from Andover are from underprivileged backgrounds and are on full need-based scholarships.

Also, take a look at the notable alumni:
http://www.andover.edu/about_andover/notable_alums.htm If it really was a school for dumb rich kids, why would there be so many influential and intelligent graduates who have made an impact on the world or in their field?

Right. Of course they give scholarships here and there, but let's not kid ourselves: connections, money, and background are externally important factors. (Where did you get that outrageously deflated 1% figure from?!?)

The main point I was making, one that you apparently missed, was that high schools that attract their entire class solely on meritocracy should be applauded. At the Stuyvesant's and TJ's of the world, your brain is the only thing that gets you in.

TF

Alleria: On the collegiate level, I fully realize that the argument for meritocracy falls apart. I was only commending public magnet high schools on their effort to more fully strive for a merit based admission than their parochial counterparts.

While not perfect, TJ does a damn good job at admitting students almost solely their intellectual potential, regardless of race, sex, wealth, etc for a FREE education. This cannot be said for privatized high schools, or even the most public universities (i.e. UMich or UNC).

This is just one man's opinion anyway. Hopefully we'll all make great doctors someday, no matter where we got educated!

Hahaha. I am glad there is a thread about TJ.

I went to college with a bunch of people from TJ. NERDS NERDS NERDS with wierd-a$$ stories about their highschool experience. One was a very good friend and proof that awesome people come out of there, but man the thought of that school makes me laugh.

Yeah, a 42 is great, particularly for a high school student, but it's no wonder that this Kay person got a, what was it, N or something, on the writing sample. Did you guys actually read the introduction to the Tolstoy site? That's some funny ****, I tell you...

"This page is devoted to a compilation of information on this great writer, the fruits of seven months of research, so those with interest can find this knowledge in one place, like a juicy bunch of grapes on the vine....There also exists on this page an essay, written by myself, on Tolstoy as a Classic Author....This fruitful site is full of information ripe for the plucking, so I invite you to help yourself."
