The best time to take the DAT is immediately after all the pre requisites have been completed and after a thorough review of the material. It should be taken once.
Retakes are not a guarantee of higher scores. The mean DAT scores on retakes is roughly 2 points lower.

There are several factors that should be noted:
1. Only 7 ds will consider an application without DAT scores.
2. 15 ds do not accept the Canadian DAT
3. In the event of multiple DAT scores-
- 30 will consider the highest score.
- 27 ds will consider the most recent score
- 3 will consider all
- 2 will average
4. There is an age limit on the DAT scores.
