Does anyone have confirmed information regarding the initial release date for CAS? Word on the street is that in prior years they have been released in the first or second week of August. It's now turning into late August and the CAS people are still being very vague about when we can expect to see them sent out.

Agreed about the lack of clarity. I am doing an away right now and few of the students on my rotation called to inquire last week. We got multiple answers, including contradictory statements that they are not doing batch release, that they are doing a combination of immediate/individual and batch release, and that they are only doing batch release.

Has anyone that submitted in Late July/ Early August had their app released?

I submitted my CAS August 1, and the mailed package arrived (delivery confirmation told me) on August 1st as well, though the mailed documents weren't "received" until August 6th. Still waiting for my documents to be uploaded. I called yesterday and they said they had not yet sent out the first batch, but that mine would supposedly be included in the first batch. They also said they are getting applications processed in about two weeks (versus quoted three weeks in instructions) currently. Not sure why other posters are saying the first batch went out today, but I didn't get that impression when I talked with them yesterday.

I think they are processing and distributing the fellowship applications first since the deadline for those is sooner.

I called them last week and they said the first batch will go out next week, starting Aug 27!!!

I wonder how many applications they will send in the first batch, if your application falls into the second batch, when will it be sent out? My documents arrived yesterday (according to UPS, not yet noted on the website). Some of the program deadlines are in early Sep, hopefully they'll be sent in before the deadline passes!

Some programs with a Sep. 1 deadline actually still take in applications after that date. Not all of them, but at least some that I know of do. I think they all understand how difficult it can sometimes be to get all those letters in on time.

The first batch was just released. Confirmed. *hyperventilates, has heart attack*

Which one is it? One person says they aren't releasing until the 27th, one person says they're released.

i've talked to the SF match people a few times in the past 2 days. today is the day (within the next couple of hours). programs will have access to our applications tomorrow morning.

I am a coordinator in an ophthalmology residency program, and we literally just got an email from SF Match about 30 minutes ago notifying us that our applications would be uploaded/released to us tonight (8/21). Our program has 147 files out there already (gulp!), so on behalf of all program coordinators, let me just ask that you please have some patience with us as we download and sort through all the applications.

We know you're all anxious about the process! It's a long interview season, with many programs still interviewing into December. Take a deep breath, try to relax, and don't fret if you don't receive notifications immediately. I do my best to notify everyone within a day or two of receiving their application, but bear in mind we all have our "normal" daily tasks to do and this all gets added on top of that, or the selection committee members may be on a late-summer family vacation before the kids are back in school, so that delays decision-making.

If you have a solid application, you will find you'll have plenty of opportunities coming your way! Good luck!

Well dang. They've had my documents for a while and they still aren't uploaded - I hope not being in the first batch doesn't screw me up.

I can't speak for all programs of course, but we keep on looking at new applications right up to our deadline date, and sometimes even a bit after that... which is why we don't begin to offer many interviews until about early October. We'd hate to miss out on a great candidate by filling all our spots too early and then finding out that one slow LOR writer held up submission of a great application.

Thanks for the information DrTrish!

Apps distributed already? Is it another rumor or what? If that's true, Im screwed. Davis and Irvine both set their deadline on 9/1. Gonna miss both. Should I contact them now and let them know my interest?

Sorry man its too late, there is no hope for you now. J/k give them a call and let us how it goes

I just received an email from a program that my app has been received even though my documents have not been uploaded yet. Does anyone know what that means? So they got my CAS app without the supporting documents? How does that work? Or did SFMatch upload my documents but not note it on the website?

Man there are 9 days until 9/1. If they distributed apps once this week they'll probably distribute again before 9/1.

When programs log on to the website, we see this long list of applicants with several data columns. One of the columns is "Available Date". If that is blank, that means that SF Match has received some or all of your application but it is not fully processed yet and not available for us to view. Fully viewable applications have a date there, obviously. There is also a check box in front of the applicant names, and we can check those boxes and then send emails through the SFMatch site. I prefer to send from my own email program so that I have a record of my emails sent, but I suspect that someone may have just selected "all" those check boxes to send out a verification of receipt, even though the "Available Date" column is still blank for some applicants.

I just checked my database a few minutes ago and the latest date showing in my available files is 8/23, but there are at least another 20 that are in the list, just not available (uploaded) yet. I received 3 batches of files dated 8/22 and 1 batch dated 8/23. Hope none of you mind me popping in here, but I get the stress you all are feeling and just thought some inside scoop from the program point of view might help. Have a good weekend everyone!

Wow that was really helpful Dr Trish. Thanks for coming on the forum and helping us clarify things from an insider's point of view. My documents were delivered on Mon, marked received on Wed and uploaded today. Have to say I'm quite impressed with SFMatch thus far. They've been fairly speedy with things.
