The strange thing is that last year there were only two NSU acceptances in the nontrad thread. Either they got some new nontrad-friendly admissions staff or more of us decided that Fort Lauderdale sunshine made NSU worth applying for.

Oh. The thing that made me think that was because they actually had a big article on non trad in their latest magazine.

Just to give an advice to whomever that will be starting next year's thread, I think this thread should limited people over 27ish. No?

nah, I know we have some non-trads posting that have only taken a gap year, but even some 24 yr olds come from pretty non-trad backgrounds (military, kids, GED instead of hs diploma, etc). I don't know that it would be right exclude anyone like that from the most fun thread of our forum :)

Yeah I'd have to agree. Lets let everyone who feels non-trad participate. That being said, I'd like to think I'm the epitome of a non-trad student. Married for 6 years with one kid, will be 29 when I start school. Spanish major. Lived in South America for 2 years doing a church mission. Never graduated high school OR got a GED, my first academic degree of any kind was my bachelors in Spanish.

Oh and also, I think western Lebanon is very non-trad friendly. Easily a majority of the students I met would fit into this category. I've just noticed that many comp-nw applicants and students aren't on SDN.
 
although if knowing ages of accepted applicants is that important to ppl, i suppose people could put their ages down. it's just such a small part of their applications though I don't know that there's much you could interpret from that alone.

as I brought up before in this thread, there is a vast difference between applicants in their early or mid 20s who may still think they are non trad and applicants who are in their 30s or 40s. for the future applicants who are in their 30s and 40s, it might be helpful to see which school has accepted those kinds vs just majority of people in the mid 20s.

True, but it's been outlined in the sticky/intro portion of this thread as to what is considered a non-trad and it's pretty broad due to such a wide variety of circumstances that people might have coming into this field. I don't think closing off the acceptance thread to a significant number of people on here is the right way to go about getting the information a few people might be interested in.

A better alternative would be to start a thread along the lines of "Accepted and over 27 yrs, where'd you get in?" and have people post ages and schools. But most schools post ranges for ages for their entering classes ie 22-39, 23-45, etc. Also, age is just one factor that non-trads have to contend with as is being clearly discussed in the thread on whether non-trads are discriminated against so I don't know how valuable that information will be in and of itself. Maybe Case Western only accepts 2 30 yr old + non-trads, but what does that tell you. Maybe only 2 applied.

This thread is to celebrate acceptances. I think it's best left open to all non-trad posters.
