Columbia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I haven't heard from them yet, either. I don't think I even got a confirmation email or anything. I have heard excellent things about the program re quality of clinical placements, diversity and knowledge of faculty, quality of facilities, etc. The only downside I consistently read about is the extremely high cost of tuition accompanied by the cost of living in Manhattan or a nearby borough.

First set of interviews were held this past Saturday. Good luck guys!

I'm not really sure how this works but I seem to be missing interviews at a lot of schools without getting any rejections. Does this mean they just wait to reject you later in the process?

Anyone hear from Columbia yet? Any thoughts on the program?

I remember randomly meeting a recent Columbia DPT grad at some social gathering earlier this year. I was excited and started asking him about the program, how he liked it, what he was up to.

He immediately went to the topic of money. I'm paraphrasing here, but the gist of it was this: "I'm sure I got a good education, and an education that was better than most schools, but I wonder if it was worth it."

Expensive to go there. Expensive to live there. And now starting to pay off loans on the starting salary of a PT, while still paying an NYC cost-of-living. I knew immediately what he was talking about and the tone of the conversation very quickly became sullen, before ending altogether.

No, it's just early in the process. Schools have a lot of people to interview and they space them out. I just received an invitation to interview in Feb. at a school school people have already been accepted to. This is why schools place a lot of people on the waiting list, especially if you interview early in the cycle.

Don't sweat it, it's to early to be worrying yet!

Did anyone from Sat's interview hear back yet?

Kinda confused. From Columbia's PTCAS info page: "Interviews are required for program admission. Interviews begin in early January 2013 and continue through February. Interviews are held Friday and Saturday and applicants should expect to spend a full day at Columbia University."

Were the interviews held this past weekend for Early Decision or something..?

No, it was just the first round of regular decision. I guess they had enough for a full interview day so they did one!

Yes, I heard back yesterday from Columbia telling me I was accepted. I think they said in the interview they would be letting everyone from Saturdays group know throughout the month of December.
