    Fatty liver and deficiency of essential fatty acids

    Hello, My biochemistry book says that deficiency in essential fatty acids produces fatty liver. I don't understand how, could someone explain it for me? Thanks in advance!

    How detailed does AAMC go with regard to lipids? Are there specific lipids one should know about or just general characteristics?

    Is this diagram accurate?

    I don't think it is because there doesn't appear to be any N-acetyl-beta-D-galactosamine component (it appears to have been replaced by a D-glucose). I think Kaplan took this particular image off wikipedia. Thanks!
