So I was perusing the news, as usual, and came across this interesting story about a lobster that was captured off the east coast. No big deal, right? I mean, a lobster caught off the east coast? Happens everyday.
Wrong.
This lobster is 1 in 50,000,000. In coloration at least.

I wonder how much that lobster dinner would cost.

I don't know.
If it's 50,000,000 times more rare than a regular lobster, would it cost that many times more? so something like a one billion dollar lobster?

Most lobsters don't have a central seam..... (light reflection on both colors)

That's half a fresh and half a boiled lobster. Video or it didn't happen

Dude has too much time on his hands since he got accepted.

I'll laugh if that fisherman painted the lobster half black and later reveal it was a joke for Halloween.

Apparently it happened.

Apparently that's not the only rare type of coloration. A little googling finds quite a few interesting variations.

Could be EVEN worse. He could have been rejected from all schools already or be planning an MCAT retake.

Nice photoshop job

Robinson, of Steuben, donated the lobster to the Mount Desert Oceanarium.... Bette Spurling, who works at the oceanarium, said lobster shells are usually a blend of the three primary colors: red, yellow and blue. Those colors mix to form the greenish-brown color of most lobsters. This lobster, though, has no blue in half of its shell, she said. Bernard Arseneau, a former manager at the oceanarium's lobster hatchery, said lobsters also have a growth pattern in which the two sides develop independently of each other. The oceanarium has received only three two-toned lobsters in its 35 years of existence, staff members said.

Hey that's pretty interesting! It makes sense that the two halves of the shell must develop separately. That would be dry interesting to learn how that works. Lol

Wow. That's so cool!

Well, I guess looking different really saved that guy's little life. I had no idea that lobsters could have such a wide range of pigmentation. I love the blue hued one.
