1+ Time Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I completely rewrote mine. I asked for exit interviews from the places I got rejected from and got great feed back about what they did and didn't like about my PS and made changes from their. Essential I rewrote it until I liked it. Second time around I probably scrapped 5 perfectly good PS until I settled on the perfect PS I really liked. So biggest difference- time. First time around I don't think I spent near as much time on it as I should have.

For my 2nd application I only applied to U of I (this is where the hubby is) and the only criticism I got about my 1st PS was that I didn't explicitly state that I understood that veterinary medicine is a science-based medical field. So, my 1st and 2nd PS looked very similar.
This time, I completely rewrote my statement because I felt that it no longer fully represented me. I basically made all of the same points about why I want to be a veterinarian but I worded everything differently and incorporated information about the experiences I've had since my 1st application cycle.

You should contact the schools that you're interested in applying to and see what they did and didn't like about your original PS.

Thanks for the feedback. I am currently in the process of re-writing for my 2nd application cycle. This 1st cycle I probably shouldn't have applied because I did not have enough vet hours, which I'm currently working on. Unfortunately I only applied to CSU this year and they are no longer doing file reviews, bummer!

Would anyone be interested in reading my first PS and seeing what they do/don't like about it? Not sure if this totally falls under the PS readers 2012 since it would be my old one and my new one?

Thanks again for your help, I'm so glad to have SDN support and advice this time around.

I'm sure you could make a request to whoever you pm your PS to in the 2012 readers thread. Just explain the situation and I'm sure they can edit accordingly.
