OK, I need some advice/help... 🙂
Basically, I've been informally accepted to the University of Manitoba. They don't really have an MD/PhD program, but they're willing to set something up for me.
The trick is funding. Now, I have a very nice graduate scholarship thanks to the government. The people at Manitoba have advised me to do a year's graduate work before I start my MD program. So, all that's well and good. I'll get almost $27K in funding, and the research is fully transferrable to my MD/PhD.
The problem is that I've been wondering about going elsewhere for my MD/PhD, after next year.
So, I thought this was all fine and good, because I won't actually be registered as an MD student. But now I find out that I might not qualify if I can't get my Masters done next year!
So, is it possible to do a Masters in one year?? I am a very hard worker - right now, I'm taking 6 full classes (a 25% overload, all with a 4.0), as well as doing my senior year's thesis, and I'm working 20 hours a week as a TA.
So, can you get a Masters done in 16 months? Between this May and next August? The program I'm in only requires 4 classes, only two of which have to be graduate classes. And I don't have to worry about TA'ing...
Any advice? 🙂
