not to sound harsh on you, but schools ask these kinds of questions because an applicant's answers reflect their knowledge of that institution and how much research they've done about that particular program.

if in your "research" all you've come up with is how great the weather is in FL, then all you've probably done is read a map correctly and haven't actually put any real effort into educating yourself about their program and what sets them apart from other schools (and vice versa). why don't you read up on them and not skim their website and "fb pg, blog, etc." lol and this goes to all programs you're applying to. asking others is ok to give yourself an idea, but given the context here, it's pretty much plagiarism. "i like nova because these people said this about it and that works for me."

Most of my answers for questions like his came from asking grads what they thought of the school, so I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with saying that you liked what other people said about it on an Internet forum (which, I mean, should be the perfect place to ask these sorts of questions).

That said, I don't go to NOVA so couldn't say anything about it. I'd say go talk to a recent grad if you can.

For osu, I wrote that I liked how they had an annual speaker (lecture series), similar to what my undergraduate institution has for various departments. They want you to include specific things like that, things that some other schools DON'T have. Try digging a little deeper. Read their newsletters. Go on the "current students" part of the website and see what is there. Find things that make it different from other schools. Read the mission statement and plans for the future of the program.

Look at curriculums, board pass ratings, absolutely ask other students! I break up my essays into an academic portion on why I like the school, and then a personal. For Nova, my mom used to live there so I have a connection with the city, plus it is a whole diff lifestyle from snowy central NY. For Western U, I have never been to the west coast and I have family about 15 minutes from the campus, and they say you see around 1,000 patients before graduation. For PCO I wrote about how I liked the elective deal and the extra 6 months of externship gives more time "in the field." If you are really digging too hard to find what stands out about a school, the answer might be it isn't right for you!!
