1099 contracts

What usually goes into a 1099 outpatient contract? Is it concerning that my 1099 job has no contract to speak of? Am I opening myself up to anything negative if I don't insist on some sort of contract? Thank you!

Are you doing the service using your own equipment? Do you set your own schedule?

There's a fine line between independent contractor vs a company not wanting to give you a W2.

I set my own schedule and am starting out remote but am told I'll get an office space when one opens up at the location near me.

If you have no contract you have basically no recourse for anything as a CONTRACTOR. For instance they decide they want to pay you monthly....you don't have a contract that says you were to be paid every 2 weeks and it'll be an uphill battle to try to change this.

You have no employee protections as a contractor so the only thing that lays out your business transaction with the party you are contracting out to is ahem the CONTRACT.

So yes bud you need a contract.

Depends. Is this a small PP that hasn't done this before or doesn't usually do this? If so, probably not a red flag but I think a yellow one. If it's a bigger organization that has other 1099s then imo yes. I'd look at it as a red flag until they prove otherwise.

Be ready to walk, or run, if the contract doesn't look fantastic. The combination of these makes it sound like a large organization more concerned with making money and expanding than actually providing patient care or taking care of its staff.

By any chance, does this big organization have the word "cartel" in it's name, or have some initiation rite to join such "blood in, blood out" or reciting Italian phrases?
