Like I always say, if I could go back and start over I would major in Business.

No, as a matter of fact, majoring in biology would give you the most background when dental school comes around and you've already taken physio, anatomy, biochem, genetics, bio 1 and 2, micro.. With any other degree you might only have bio 1 and 2 and one or two other courses. They don't teach you business or chemistry in dental school as far as I'm aware

No, I'm a junior, I applied early so I'm waiting for Dec 1st to roll around. Every dentist I've shadowed (4) has said a business degree would have saved them a lot of time and money in their practice. We've had two guests talk to our pre dental society who are current dentists taking business classes at night to help with their private practices. One is actually trying to get his MBA.
 
That's one thing I've always feared - not having enough business/finance knowledge. I understand almost nothing about money. If I could go back, I would minor in Business at least.

Being a BIO major though, is the best option IMO. It exposes you so much to the science you will encounter in D-school and being familiar with the material to some extent is an advantage! When you get to upper BIO classes, a lot of info overlap and it's cool to see how everything connects (and sometimes you don't have to study as much for certain topics!)

BUT it is a useless major for me IF I don't get in...I'm getting in right?!

Well i hope I don't have to bite my tongue about this later, but how difficult could owning a private practice and handling your billing and finance on your own be? I feel like it'll be easy if you know the simple concept of money: "as long as the outcome is income" wise words from drake himself. Hopefully it's as easily said as done. I doubt it but then again, we can have someone else manage that aspect of our business for us.

Side note: does anyone else plan on investing in other businesses? hopefully when I'm settled and satisfied with how my private practice is, I plan on investing in multiple businesses and even investing in franchises. Money is the motto and a Maybach and Bentley are the drive....

With unlimited hookah supplies obviously

Always my input when people ask this: major in a field that'll get you a job if for some reason dental doesnt work out. The market for biology degrees isn't exactly booming.
 
A biology major is great if you really like biology, but you will be taking a lot of nonessential/useless classes that may be very time consuming. You can take all the necessary science courses that are relevant to dental school without that extra baggage. I would recommend majoring in something you can use after dental school, like business or something, and doing a biology/chemistry minor - just make sure to take upper division bio courses. That's what I would do if I could do it all again.
