AMCAS converts quarter-system and semester-system into one universal GPA that weights a year at each equally, if I'm understanding that to be the question correctly. So for example 3 quarters of Gen Chem and 2 semesters of Gen Chem both work out the same.

You might be asked about the mix and match at interviews but cost is a reasonable answer to give for it. A course that is online might not be marked as such in the course name, but might be discovered to be online when AMCAS does verification (maybe by looking at catalogs? @gonnif has had words of caution in the past on this topic).

Equivalent how, exactly? Like you've taken two classes, both titled Intro to Anthro, and one university weights it a point heavier?

AMCAS will count them both. If you got the same grade both times, it will be as if you took it once at one university carrying a 7-credit weight, as far as GPA is concerned.

Credit Hours x Grade (ex. a= 4, b= 3, c= 2) = quality points

Take all quality points
Divide by all credit hours
That's ur gpa

Credit hours doesn't matter or change the weight. But grade scale is what they even out for you.

My Chem 101 class was 4 credits bc it included the lab. If I got a A, 4 credits x 4 points = 16 quality points
Bio 101 was 3 hours and I got a B . 3 hours x 3 points = 9 quality points

25 quality points divided by 7 hours = 3.57***

Does that make sense ?

Do I say to myself, "ok, in Bio 1 I got an A from university A. In university B, I got an A in physics 1. I therefore consider having a net credit-weight for A's of 7 (4 from uni A, 3 from uni B) credit hours"?
Correct. For example if you had one 4-pt A, one 4-pt B, and one 3-pt C you would end up with a 3.09 rather than a 3.00

As above the easiest way to do this is via multiplying each grade against each weight and summing. (4x4) + (3x4) + (2x3) / (4+4+3) = 3.09

Does amcas have a section where you have to say whether you took a class in the classroom or online? How much of an issue is it if you took a random non prereq class online?
