Do not take the exam and count on a retake. You won't magically improve by June 1st. 509 to a 515 is two SD. I would cancel, unless money is a serious issue.

My MCAT is scheduled for June 1st and I just took AAMC FL 2 and scored 509. On AAMC FL 1, I scored 510. I was originally hoping for a 515 but it looks like that it difficult to get now 🙁

1. Should I go ahead and take the June 1st test after more review and hope that being early may slightly help the average score?

2. Should I cancel my exam (with no refund) and postpone to June 17th and still be on time? (but honestly, will two extra weeks change my score any? is it worth losing $790 - $480 for this test plus $310 for the new exam)

3. Should I take the exam, keep studying (this time focusing exclusively on practice), and retake late July in case my score is low?

Last day to cancel is today, so I really REALLY need some advice!!!

FYI - in case its important, I'm a VA resident with GPA = 3.8 and I have good LORs, service, clinical, research experience.
If it's too late to get any sort of refund, I would at least plan on taking the exam and voiding it. Normally that's a poor strategy (waste of money), but since you are already signed up and can't get your money back, you might as well get a good practice test in, with the real testing condition. I think schools can see that you voided, so consider that, but I can't imagine one voided test would count against you.

And then, if you feel like you aced it when you take it you can have it scored instead of voiding.

But cancel and reschedule to when? I am planning to apply this cycle. And why would taking it on June 1st, practicing hard for the next two months and then retaking late July be a bad option?

Cancel and take it in July if you want to make sure that you get the score you want. You don't want to take it twice. The real thing is harder than the practice exams.

If I were you, I would keep working hard until June 1st and just go for it. Your GPA is high and you have good ECs. A ~510 is a decent score given your stats.

Because taking it twice, even with a score raise, will never look as good as taking it once and scoring well.

^ also a possible option. If you take it now you'll probably get between 507-512. But based on your GPA and target score, you probably want higher than 512 to shoot for higher tiers.

Cancel and take the exam ONLY if you're 100% ready.

Alternatively, you could take the exam, but void at the first hint if uncertainty. in your gut.

I would have to slow the panic down here a bit. Without understanding why the OP is not doing well, then I am not so sure a rush to cancel is in order. Do we have a content issue? just lack of some test focus/discipline? Is there a weakness in one section? I have had several calls from panicked students in the past few days.

What I would suggest is that a late june or even mid July MCAT isnt too late for a solid candidate, though I dont like advising that for other reasons. But what I do not suggest is planning a retake in the same cycle.
