Just my 2 cents but it's a pretty broad field and you might have trouble getting exposure to the different areas within PM&R and seeing the differences between inpatient and outpatient settings if you just work with one attending for an entire away rotation even though you'd presumably get a great letter. I'd suggest contacting the course coordinators at any of the programs you're interested in and asking them about flexibility in scheduling. At my home program I was able to divide my month in PM&R to two weeks with an attending and worked with them every day which resulted in good relationships and letters. Many students who rotate through the course end up with something similar to what you described with a few days with each attending because they just go with the "default" schedule.
Sorry I can't be of help with the programs you listed. I did one at Rutgers and every course they offer in the PM&R department is a very different experience

Hi all. I am a prospective pm&r applicant from a school with no pm&r program/department. I am looking for aways where I can form good relationships and receive LORs in the field.

One issue with my third year rotations is that I am not getting much face-time with any one particular attending. It is a revolving roster of different private practice attendings working odd schedules. All of my third year evaluation so far ended up coming from attendings I've only worked 2-3 shifts with during the entire month. I'm looking for the polar opposite of this in my aways.

Which programs would you guys recommend?

Programs I'm looking at for aways in order of preference are:

-NYU, Mt Sinai, Montefiore, Hofstra
-Los Angeles Va
-UC Irvine
-University of Washington
-Tufts
-Rush

Pick the program you would like to attend the most. Gaining a LOR is only one of the many good reasons to audition. It potentially could greatly improve your chances of matching to that program.
