I had a friend who started an organization from the ground up and off the top of my head I would say:
Mission Statement
Find an advisor (a science professor with the same interest maybe?)
Write a constitution for your organization (leadership positions, duties, etc.)
Find a reliable funding source for your organization
Find friends who are willing to take on the initial leadership positions and help steer the boat
Create a website
Write a series of draft articles as proof of concept
Make your organization "official" on campus - schools usually have a mother entity or something that rubber stamps an official org.
Thanks! Yeah I gotta do a lot of this just to make it "official" and get it registered as a club.
About the website, you think I'd have to make a legit website or could I use a wix type of thing?
If you want to look at some pretty cool examples of student magazines, related to science/medicine, check out Penn State School of Medicine’s website. They have a lot of good stories, artwork, etc from med students. Good luck and have fun!
