If you fit into a program then go there. Moonlighting is an excellent perk that I use to break ties between programs. But moonlighting by no means replaces your happiness and excitement to attend a program cause that spills over to your work ethic and enthusiasm. You want to be happy going to work for 4 years; $$ does not replace that

It depends on your own personal situation. If you have kids or lots of debt, then moonlighting can be a near necessity. If your debt load is relatively light/you have no dependents, then whether a program has moonlighting or not may make absolutely no difference to you. Personally, as a senior resident, I have fortunately not been in the position of needing to moonlight, and have placed a much higher priority on my free time than making extra money. It would have made absolutely no difference to me whether a program had moonlighting or not.
