Any chance at all with 13 QR? I do have a minor in engineering with B+ average on all maths. But I do really bad on on-line testing in basic maths. Does anybody know school minimum for QR? I will not be taking it again. I do have extensive healthcare background/career.
Ever heard of a predent accepted to Dental program with 13 QR?
thanks.

Although some schools put the least amount of weight on QR, the usual cut for admissions is around 14-15. I don't really have a source for this, but that is what I've read on these forums.

Students I have worked with in the past have been accepted with a QR score that low, but that was 10 years ago or so.

You will definitely need to contact schools and talk to them with your stats. Each student has their own unique situations. I would not absolutely say no because it will depend on the dental school.

Take care..Nancy

I have a 12 QR and I was accepted this cycle.
Congratulations on your acceptance! Would you mind sharing your other scores, gpa and other stats. That would be helpful to this student and many others.

Thanks..Nancy

Wow, you have a much better gpa than I do. But I have 18 and 17 for ts and aa. My QR is the only issue the I need to worry (for next years cycle of application) How did you explain the low qr during the interview other than your posted stats? Did they brought it up and how? Thank you everyone for taking time to share your input. Happy New year !!

Well, Out of 6 interviews only two of them asked me to explain why it was so low.
I just told them the truth. I'm really slow when it comes to solving math problems (math was never my forte either) so I ran out of time.
Happy new years to you as well. 🙂

was the math material hard for you? I'm also from Texas, but worried about the QR. Also what do you think was your strongest point, for example Personal Statement or URM? also congrats on the acceptances!

Hey, thanks!
Yeah the material was pretty difficult for me. During college I scraped by with low B's in all my math courses. (which is why my BCPM is a 3.69 and my BCP is a 3.8).
As far as my overall application I think all of the areas were pretty solid. I've gotten compliments about my rec letters and essays from my interviewers. My interviews also went very well. I am a URM which may have helped me get into Baylor (they are known to accept more URMs than UTSD and UTHSCSA). Other than that I scored a 22 in biology on the DAT and have a 3.83 biology GPA with a large amount of credits in upper level biology courses. I think that may have put me over the edge for an acceptance as Baylor looks heavily at that.

I'm not a URM but I have a lot of credits in upper level biology. A good mix of Bs and As if that helps lol

As long as you have a decent GPA/DAT you should get in somewhere. I know you will do great!

I have a 3.5 post bac GPA...eh. but it's definitely upward trending compared to my previous years. I also have over 200 hours shadowing (3 dentists) and 250 volunteering hours. I just want an interview next cycle so I can show them that I'm a different applicant than before ya know?

3.5 is good! Knock out the DAT and you will be in a good position. Are you applying OOS too?

It's really iffy, in my opinion. It seems like your GPA is about average (based on what you've mentioned) and in cases like that, you really should shoot for 20+ on the DAT. I believe 18 is below the average these days and a 13 QR (even if QR is the least important section admissions-wise) is very risky. I wish you the best in the next application cycle, however. I think there are lists floating around that will tell you average DAT scores for each school and can help you decide where to apply.

Wait... I just took Howard out of my list because they say in their website that you can't have lower than 18 😕
Yeah I was going to take it off too because it said you needed 18+ in all sections. But I got an early interview and an acceptance on dec 1st so I guess they didn't care lol.
