Is it necessary that we include our gap year plans on the personal statement? I am 90% sure I will be doing an MPH in my gap year. BUT considering last minute changes, and in case I get a cool job offer or something, I may decide to do the MPH later on in med school. This is why I'm hesitant to put it in my PS, and I won't really know for sure until end of June whether I am taking up the MPH offer. Obv, I'd rather submit AMCAS before then!

I talk about my public health interests in my PS a little bit through my activities and such. However, my PS is more general and not specifically tailored towards an MD/MPH program since I will be applying to only MD/DO programs for now.

If I don't include my MPH plans in my PS, but end up starting the MPH this summer, will it raise a red flag?
No.

Nope! Agree w/ @ciestar above. It's awesome to talk about your public health interests in your PS, just make sure it's clear that you want to be a doctor (ie. make sure you discuss medicine too).

Nope. It may come up in secondaries and will likely come up in interviews which should give you something interesting to talk about.

It'll come up in secondaries, perfect topic for the optional essays.
