Just reuse the personal statement. You'll have time to talk about why osteopathic medicine later.
With your stats, you'd be fine submitting your application in September.

Had similar stats, no DO letter and did just fine... II at 7/11 schools applied to if I remember correctly

Okay, thanks! I think the DO statement is shorter though, so I will try to fix that and submit asap. Do they ask about "why DO" in secondaries or mainly IIs?

I'm a little worried about the DO application since it opened mid-May and I haven't even submitted it yet! I notice that a lot of the app materials are the same as AMCAS, so I can copy and paste. But I will need to write a personal statement catered to the DO schools. I think I can write it this week and get the app in by Aug 15th. Is that still good for DO schools or too late? I have a 3.8 GPA and a sub 506 mcat score (I retook July 24th and am waiting for the new score). EC's, LORs should be good.

Would I still see success with the DO app this cycle submitting mid-August?
You're totally fine time wise OP. I applied around this time and got into three of the better Do schools. You're not late for Do until like November. Just use your personal statement from amcas. There Wil be places in secondary to answer why do specifically. Personal statement is about you and why you want to be a physician, and not md/do.

Why DO is usually in secondaries. Most schools want DO letters, it's the exception to accept MD. I'm submitting by 8/8 (Lord willing!), and although its easy to stress about it when you see people on here getting secondaries and IIs while you haven't even submitted yet, it's more important to have a good app than an early one.

I applied in December and was fine. But I had a higher MCAT, lower GPA compared to you.

Chill!
The DO cycle is longer. Get your app in by T-giving.
