Suggest actually going to Admissions websites and see what they require.Do medical schools expect that the diploma/final transcript be in hand before we matriculate to the school? I am thinking of taking a summer class next year in 2019 to fulfill a prerequisite for one school (physiology) and also finish up my degree. However, I heard from my current school that even though the class will be complete by end of July, they don't release the actual transcript until mid to late August until Summer II ends for the whole school.
If I am accepted to a medical school with a white coat ceremony in August 1st week, will they still let me matriculate if I tell them my final diploma won't come in until late August? I could get a note from the student affairs and registrar about this if needed. @gyngyn @gonnif @Goro @Catalystik would love your input!
From what I've seen, having to acquire official proof of course completion and graduation creates immense hassles for the many people who'd have to sign off on it prematurely, in order for suitable letters to be generated. You think it would be easy, but if even one or two persons in the chain are on vacation/not available/not cooperative, you are in trouble. Imagine finding out at the last moment that your matriculation plans cannot move forward. Just thinking about you doing this makes me want to reach for the TUMS. Of course, your mileage may vary. At your school maybe all the required officials are used to accomplishing this in a helpful and efficient manner. /sDo medical schools expect that the diploma/final transcript be in hand before we matriculate to the school? You'd have to check with the med school and ask what they'd require to prove course completion and graduation in place of the official transcript. What your school is able to provide and what the med school expects to see may not be the same thing.Okay, I will check with my school admissions office and see what can be done. If they are able to generate the letter though, I believe it would be something simple like, "Student has finished all requirements for graduation successfully and is just waiting on a final official transcript to be released by end of August." My grades for everything would be in by end of July, so they could even state the grade I got in the letter or send in an unoffical transcript in the meantime. Would that be okay? And in such a case, would sending final diploma after white coat pose any problems if this letter was given before?

If this class that you're taking a prereq for one school, as you state, why don't you contact that one school and see what they think? It seems like this will only be a problem if you decided to go to the one school that needs that pre-req, unless I'm missing something.
1) This is just one of multiple schools you've targeted, though (presumably). If all goes well, you may have other acceptance options to choose among.1) pre req class is physiology which is only needed by Creighton out of the schools I'm applying to.
2) I will have to check with my registrar asap
Yeah the pre req class is physiology which is only needed by Creighton out of the schools I'm applying to. I really don't know when else I can take physiology during the semester. I will call them and ask. However, I also need to finish a practicum by next July to get my overall degree. So now I'm confused on how to do all of this. I will have to check with my registrar asap
You will have an issue. You must assume that this cant be done unless proven otherwise
1) some schools are now listing when prereqs must be finished prior to matriculation; these dates can be as early as January of matriculation year
2) schools need official transcripts in order to matriculate you
3) I have seen people miss this deadline (class is completed but no official transcript yet) be suddenly deferred. This is one source of very last minute wait list acceptance. While highly unlikely, a school would be well within their rights to rescind an acceptance.

2) Please, let us know what they say.
