Hi everyone! I recently graduated and now I'm planning on applying to podiatry school. I have a criminal record that is EXPUNGED!! When I was 18 and stupid, I was involved in Grand theft which resulted in Felony. As my record is expunged now, do I have chances of getting in pod school? Or should I just forget about podiatry?? Please help!! 🙁 Do you know anyone who got into pod school with criminal history?? Even like DUIs? I know I made a huge mistake but I don't live in my past anymore. Do I have a chance?
I don't know anyone.

I am not familiar with criminal records and expunged records and how they are viewed legally and by med schools.

Seek professional advice as med school admissions or state boards won't consider our opinion when they will deny you acceptance or licensure.

Since you're asking about an expunged record I'm assuming you don't plan on disclosing that information to schools. It's honestly probably best to get some legal advice before applying to make sure you'd meet any school or state board requirements just in case a background check still showed a record. I've heard stories of job applicants with expunged records still having issues passing background checks because databases weren't updated or what not. Not sure if there is any legal protection if this were to happen to you.

Good for you though on turning things around. Best of luck!
