I know Kentucky (KY-COM) seems to encourage a lot of research. You will get research at many schools so apply broadly to a few with your current stats besides just FL.

I suggest adding these schools to your application:
ACOM
ARCOM
BCOM
UIWSOM
LMU-DCOM
UP-KYCOM
MU-COM
WVSOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
To this list, add ICOM, KCU, TUNCOM, Western (both) and KCOM

Much appreciated. @Goro @Faha @PapaGuava

How do medical students gain research experience? Do students have time during the year, or mainly in the summer? If during the year, do most of these schools have research opportunities?

Plenty of people with more knowledge than me in this area but it seems to me the summer is one of the more bigger opportunities to get a lot of research time, especially after your first year. Based on what other medical students and staff have relayed to me.
