514, 3.8, no Rs, 2 holds, 26 schools

I submitted in early-mid September (due to LOR submission out of my control). The one part of my app I'm slightly worried about is LORs...I think they're probably good but not outstanding since I didn't really have close relationships with my professors, although I have two solid ones from former employers.
That's interesting. I think I have the same problem. My employers wrote me great recommendations but I'm worried about my professors. I wonder if it's the same thing that's hurt our applications

Maybe. I'm hoping that a lot of schools just haven't gotten to me yet because I submitted sort of late, and I haven't gotten any Rs yet...although at this point I would kind of be happy with any decision from anyone. You might hear soon though, you never know. Crossing my fingers for you!
I completely agree! I got lot of my decisions the last two weeks and I was complete in july so you'll probably hear good news in the next few weeks!

515, 3.7c, URM, 1 R, waiting on 13 schools. Applied to a nice spread, 8 target schools, 4 below-my-stats schools, and 2 reach schools. Tailored apps and everything. R was from a target.

Submitted in mid-Sept also due to a LOR issue, so I’m about 8 weeks out from complete now. I’d say the weakest part of my app is clinical volunteering but nothing that should kill my app. It’s really starting to bum me out, since I’d like to at least know if I’m getting an II before deadlines pass on potential gap year programs.

If you guys received Rs, try asking for feedback on your app. Also, try asking your premed advisor if there are any red flags on your app like a Luke warm LOR. I believe they can access this.

This is a good idea! My letter writers had me help them write their letters so hopefully there aren’t surprises there haha. My R was from a school that I sent my least favorite secondary to. I had a hard time working with their prompts. Are many schools receptive to feedback requests?

I have received 3 Rs so far and each one said they cannot provide feedback to help me at this time. I guess if the school doesn’t state this in the R email, it would be a fair thing to ask.

I would imagine that not many schools are receptive because of their workload. However, it’s worth a shot. Otherwise, you just have to keep working on your perceived deficiencies and keep waiting for that II.

It seems like most schools provide feedback for post-II R’s, not pre-II. I’d imagine they would be flooded if they did.

Forgot to mention that I've received secondaries from several schools that do holistic reviews before sending them, including UCSF, so I feel like my app is at least decent? Idk if they read the letters for that though.

You all have competitive stats, barring any red flags, lack of service, or bad school list, I would expect AT LEAST a few IIs for all of you. Other than that, it just sums up to the uncertainty of app cycle and luck. Btw, I know it’s been said before, but applicants reportedly get IIs even in January and get those later acceptances. Not all is lost.

Yup OOS, got the complete email 10/8 though I sent my primary app in early July

People without interviews would you mind sharing your stats? Anyone have suggestions on plans to improve your application next year? any advice?

I'll start. 515, 3.8, 8 R, 2 holds, waiting to hear back from 16 schoold

As someone with similar stats and only 1 II (for which I feel an outside factor contributed to me hearing back early on a positive note), I feel the pain. I still have 20+ schools to hear back from.

Something that made me feel better (and might make you feel better) is that I know of several people from last year where they were in the 514-517, 3.7-3.8 range and only received 1 or 2 IIs before the new year but then got like 3-5 more interviews in January and February. One girl I know even ended up with 5 acceptances by the end of the cycle and the first II she attended was in December!

We just gotta hang in there and get our mind off this process so we don't go crazy. We still have several months to go and no point in wasting it all worrying.

Though I should point out that this probably still won't stop my salty comments on the school-specific threads!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

What could they tell you?
Probably nothing your pre-med advisor couldn't, which is why I was questioning the validity of even asking for feedback from pre-II R schools.

Just emailed my advisor and did this, although he's generally pretty unhelpful so I'm not sure I'll get anything out of it. I just don't understand why I haven't heard ANYTHING. I have the hold everyone gets from GW and a "hold for possible interview from Tulane", but I've applied to a good number of schools that are handing out rejections and haven't heard from any of them. I know I was complete late but others complete around the same time seem to be hearing back. It's just so nervewracking and frustrating.
I am in the EXACT same boat as you, complete around end of august-early/mid sept--> GW hold, and hold for possible interview for Tulane, and then radio silence everywhere else. Hang in there I know something good is coming to us soon!
