Yes you stand a chance, especially if you do well on the MCAT. I'd recommend shadowing a DO and get an LOR for an extra boost as well. You still have your next semester to raise your GPA just a bit more too. Lots of resources here on SDN, be sure to utilize them moving forward!

If your bad grades were freshman year, I don't see anyone "really" caring. If you're just honest that you took your eye off the prize but have now straightened out, I don't see many objections. Do well in grades, MCAT and EC. PCOM should be within reach.

The AMCAS and AACOMAS GPAs are going to be the only GPAs that matter and neither do the replacement. Do not feel bad as your GPA isn't that bad just keep the trend rising 3.7+ semesters and score 505+ on the MCAT. DO NOT TAKE THE MCAT until you practice scores are timed and at or above 505! Also, consider that you cannot guarantee an acceptance to PCOM so be ready to apply to 10+ DO schools and be willing to move.

Stay strong! You will be fine! 🙂

You GPA isn't that bad for DO schools. You have an upward trend which matters a lot. DO adcoms get that some students are uncommitted when they're 18.. doesn't necessarily mean they can't succeed in med school. You've been demonstrating that you know how to succeed in tough material since then.

If this is what you want, you definitely have a shot. MCAT is the biggest unknown obviously. Take it when you're ready. But no OP, your GPAs haven't doomed you for DO schools by any means. A strong MCAT score and you should be in good shape. Good luck.
