Hey SDN,

I'm finalizing my classes for the semester, and I wanted to get an idea of whether the following classes would count for my AAMCAS sGPA.

I'm currently registered for Evolution, Ornithology, and Animal Behavior. They all have a Biology prefix. However, under the AMCAS course classification (https://students-residents.aamc.org/applying-medical-school/article/course-classification-guide/) Animal Studies and Avian sciences are listed under "All Other" courses. Is this a discrepancy I would need to confirm with AAMC, or is it a general rule of thumb that any course with the BCPM prefix will count towards science gpa?

Thanks!

Edit: As per course description, the animal behavior and ornithology classes are centered around the biological and chemical mechanisms underlying animal behaviors.
So, you can classify them as science. If there is a separate section you can label for animal studies, you can put it there. If you do well in the classes, put it in science. Not-so-much, then put it in all other. Worst that can happen is they change it around. No biggy.

Yeah AMCAS usually doesn’t change the way an applicant puts in their courses. OP these definitely count. They’re science
