You have good stats for CA schools and should definitely apply to all 6 CA schools. Nevertheless, I HIGHLY encourage you to apply out-of-state because it's always harder when you reapply and also I wouldn't want to waste another few thousand dollars applying again. If you have a engaging PS, I think you have a good choice of getting into your top choices!

Its your call but coming from a fellow UCD student with a 23AA/23TS and >3.8gpa i would be open to applying elsewhere as well. I received an interview from UOP, nothing from LA and an R from SF way back in August. You have good stats so you have a good shot but I would apply out of state as well.

Very good chance this cycle. Not applying to at least a few out state would definitely hurt you though. The biggest dream is to be a dentist, not go to specific a dental school right? 🙂 apply to more so you can make sure you get in

Although your stats are pretty good, UCSF was rejecting people left and right tons this cycle - no idea what they're doing. I'd apply to at least 8-10 schools because the cycle is just getting competitive every year. Apply to all the schools in CA (up to you if you want to apply to LLU though) and 3-4 out of state schools too, not necessarily all public schools - they're more competitive for OOS students so I'd stick with privates. Best case scenario, you get into a school in CA. Worst case, you have to reapply next cycle and list the schools you applied to. If they're all in one area, and then you try to apply OOS, OOS schools might not take a chance on you because they don't believe you'd move OOS to attend their school. Hope that makes sense.

It's also cheaper to apply to a few more schools in one cycle than to have to reapply entirely next cycle. Also, reapplying is not an easy task. You'd have to get (preferably) new LORs, write a new PS, etc (cause you can't use the same PS you wrote the previous cycle). Keep that in mind.

tl;dr: Cast a wide net and don't only apply to schools on the west coast.
