If you got 8 interviews, not sure the GPA is holding you back. Send updates to all the schools still holding out. You need to practice your interview skills while adding things to your resume. I did AmeriCorps during my 2 reapplicant years and it's the best thing I've ever done. You will be a competitive applicant so find a good program. I would look into the HealthCorps (I did Pittsburgh HealthCorps which was wonderful) positions and just pick cities you want to go to. HealthCorps positions are all over the country and gives you the opportunity to live somewhere awesome for a year. Keep in mind you will be VERY poor for the year, but if you can deal with the finances it's a great opportunity.
Go to the AmeriCorps website and look when the position deadlines are. That will give you an idea of when you need to apply. Apply early so that you get the most desirable position.
