My point exactly. A GPA of just shy of 3.7 is not an application killer, but is meaningless in the absence of an MCAT score. I knew when I was in OPs position, I had a 3.66 GPA and was fairly confident I would get a 514+ on MCAT so was no too worried about the GPA factor. If OP is in that boat, then by all means carry on! Especially with 2 - 6 months between graduation and MCAT. That is perfect time for dedicated. And if you aren't feeling confident in a fall MCAT (latest MCAT this cycle will be September 14th) then might I recommend the January MCAT?Better than mine and I got in
Not perfect - the loss of 0.01 was due to a 67% on my first Ochem 2 exam lol No need to be perfect!I'm sure that perfect sGPA didn't hurt either, though 😉 But thank you! This is reassuring
I have to go through my university's prehealth committee for a committee rec and stuff with those apps being due every January, so holding off applying until next summer is pretty much my only option at this point.
I wonder, though, if having several months of no EC's will look bad -- I'm volunteering and taking courses all summer then sitting home all day "studying for MCAT" in the fall lol but that means a while of no other things until my practice exam scores are as high as I want. Hopefully that gap doesn't hurt but wouldn't a higher MCAT be worth it?
