this was the main modality / orientation of my internship supervisor and I've come to incorporate parts of it into my work.
There is a related institute based in New York, which tacks on an "accelerated" portion. Diana Fosha is the person associated with that version -AEDP.
Leigh McCullough's "Changing Character" was recommended to me and I've read and enjoyed most of it.
As I understand it, EDP is based off Habib Davanloo's (an Iranian psychiatrist working out of Canada) work.

I typically use it as a part of dual pronged approach with more cognitive behavioral approaches. Stated simply, EDPs address affect while CBTs address cognition & behavior. Whichever resonates more with the client is where I typically begin, and then gradually introduce them to the "other side."

1) I prefer FAP, because it uses behavioral lingo for affect and transference interventions.

2) Leigh McCullough was married to George Vaillant, who did the famous longitudinal study on defense mechanisms and happiness across a life. That study had several famous people in their sample, including a young JFK. Also, the study weirdly measured their subjects testicles...because reasons.
