This changes the equation a lot. What are your year by year breakdowns?I do have a substantial rising GPA trend. But thank you.
If you did one year and increased your cGPA to 3.3 (assuming it is 3.2 after your senior year) then you would have ~60% chance for a MD acceptanceThank you very much for your help! For a DIY post bacc, do you believe one year is sufficent?
There are plenty of MD schools that reward reinvention. Being from DE, Jefferson, Drexel, EVMS, PCOM, Gtown and GWU are your closest best shots. You will need DO schools on your list. But even Columbia, Duke, Vandy and UCSF are worth targeting as well.My state of residence is DE but my school that I attend is in PA.
Freshman year: 2.33, Sophomore year: 2.38, Junior year: 3.91 ,Senior year: hopefully around the same ~3.8-3.9
I think it prudent that @sorayah apply to both med schools AND SMP during the same cycle.OP, are you boning for MD or cool with DO?
I just feel a little nervous that, even with the rockstart Junior + Senior year, OP might have trouble with an MD acceptance.
@Goro Would you recommend that @sorayah apply to a nice / reputable SMP (i.e., Georgetown) during her senior year and start MD apps in the summer (between her senior year and SMP)? Or do you feel more confident in the power of her trend?
It's pricey but it feels like an insurance policy in case her strong upward trend and MCAT wasn't enough to get the job done.
