Being mindful of cost and debt is never a bad thing in itself.
What about:
Convenience? If you are working typically daytime jobs, many CC classes are at night or weekend.
Ditto for fitting into a tight schedule of other classes.
General interest? More CCs are offering upper division coursework and even bachelors degrees (at least mine does. But I am still taking premed science at a 4-year school.)
