My thoughts:
- Leaving the "anything else" question blank last year was not the reason why you were ultimately rejected. You got an interview invite in spite of this.
- If you have something meaningful to add (usually not the case), then by all means, answer this optional essay. Otherwise, leave it blank. Don't fill up space just for the sake of doing so.

I applied to School A last cycle and was placed on their HPWL after interviewing in April. Last year, School A was the only school that I left the "anything else" box empty for and it was one of my few IIs. After my interview, I sent a 1 page long LOI detailing specific reasons why I wanted to attend School A.

Anyway, I'm stuck debating if I should leave this box empty again or reword my LOI/why School A essay? I already wrote a reapplicant essay and indicated that I had previously interviewed and been placed on the WL elsewhere on the application. Thoughts?
I think putting the why this school essay there would be a good idea.

I’m all for leaving it blank, but after visiting the campus and interviewing I’m not sure if another “why this school” is ‘expected’ from me. Also would the committee have access to my LOI from last cycle?

What was in your LOI? Is it your top school? If it is, you could definitely say that and explain in the anything else essay. Keep it short and sweet though.

I discussed how it was my #1 choice and mentioned details from the interview (location/patient population, longitudinal curriculum strengths, close to my support system)
