This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm an international student who will soon be matriculating at a non US and Can medical school and haven't heard back from the ~6 schools that I applied to (only 1 pre II rejection). Could someone please direct me on how to withdraw from these schools pre II and if I should explain anything, other than the withdraw request?

Also if I ever apply for residency (yessss I know it's insanely hard), clerkships, or fellowships at these schoola will my pre-II be likely to have an impact? If so, should I just wait it out to be rejected?

Thanks

Some schools have a portal where you can literally just click the withdraw application button and you will receive an email saying that you withdrew.

Others don’t and you can just send an email saying “I would like to withdraw my application”. You don’t need to provide an explanation.

As to residencies, I doubt they care. I’m only an admitted medical student but I doubt they take the time to forward a list of people who withdrew to residency programs. And I think residencies are interested in seectong the best medical students that fit their program rather than if a medical student withdrew from an MD program at their med school years ago.
