Lol I work for my spending money and I don’t come from a rich family so spending all of my money on flights and Airbnb/ hotel rooms is not ideal. Stanford’s great, that’s why I applied.. but I didn’t have an acceptance to UCSF when I applied lol.

Glad you managed to work for what you’ve earned like many of us have.

If your financial situation is dire enough to not be able to attend an interview before matriculating into medical school where typical loans go for 200k+ then you yourself have the answer rather than random people on the internet. We all knew how expensive this entire process was going to be and how minuscule it will be in the longterm payoff.

Attending an interview for Stanford can help tremendously with playing the scholarship game, especially taking into consideration COA at UCSF.

This isn’t meant to roast you as an individual but this is a common theme I’m seeing on the X vs Z threads where highly successfully applicants consider comments quickly accessible by google searches as “valuable input” instead of doing the independent research and making decisions based on your own personal circumstances that neither me nor anyone else on these forums can answer.

My personal opinion (and the predominant opinion on this thread) is that Stanford is an incredible program; take a loan, pick up an extra shift, but attend the interview. You will have a great career so please don’t limit yourself now.

Thanks for the reply, you’re right I think I was being shortsighted in thinking about not attending the Stanford interview. Honestly I’m just tired of the process in general (not to say I’m not thankful of the love I’ve received from these wonderful schools!) and didn’t know if the extra money would change much in terms of where I end up, but you’re right who knows maybe Stanford will like me and offer me $$$. I’ll go to Palo Alto and do my best to get them to take me, thanks everyone for the input.
