Hello
i hope everyone is doing great doing anything that you guys need to do.applying, studying for dat, preparing for interview or whatever...🙂
okay, now i have 13 schools and some people suggested to apply to less schools. 13 doesn't sound too many too me. is it too many?
can anyone help me to eliminate some schools if it's too many schools...???
sorry for asking a stupid question. some people might think i'm stupid not being able to make my own decision, but i really don't know which school i should get rid of. thank you!🙂

my stats are
overall GPA : 3.83 science GPA : 3.75
DAT (20 TS, 21 AA, 25 PAT)
EC - i think i have enough (over 100 hours of shadowing, leadership, volunteering, work experience)
Residency - texas resident, but i'll be an international student out of state schools (ethnicity - Asian)

Applying to San Antonio, Baylor, Houston, Case, Columbia, University of Detroit Mercy, Howard, New York University, Nova Southeastern, University of the Pacific, University of Pennsylvania, Tufts, University of Southern California

Are you joking? With that kind of a GPA and those DATs I would apply to three schools max.

PS That GPA is good enough for medical school if you ever consider changing professions.

hahaha

Depends on how much money you want to waste. With stats like that you shouldn't have to apply to that many schools. I would be more selective and go for your top picks.

As a Texas resident, I would not anticipate having any trouble getting accepted to the Texas schools as long as you have a good interview 🙂

I had a slightly higher GPA, but lower DAT scores, and was accepted to all 3 schools plus 1 out-of-state.

Have you submitted yet?

i hope so!!!!!!!! 🙂
i just submitted. i'm worried that i was a little late in submitting my application, but i'm HAPPY that i'm done.

oh and i'm trying to apply many out of states because since i'm an international student, I have pretty low chance of getting in.
i don't know 🙁

But you are considered a state resident for Texas right?

As far as out-of-state schools, did you research which ones take international students... because some do not, and some take more than others.

yea i did...those are the schools that take international students...

if 14 schools don't look bad...i guess i would apply to 14 (11 out of states + 3 instates) just because i don't wanna risk of not getting into any of dental schools.....:scared:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP GUYS!!!!😀

I would tell you take off the Cali, Tx, and boston schools.

But that's because I'm applying to those :meanie:

Careful with that kind of talk. We are here because we want to become Dentists, not because it is easier to get into Dental school versus medical school.

Your pre-dent profile is hilarious....:laugh::laugh:

I applied to 15 schools. There is no harm in applying to many schools. The more the better.

And for the guy who said you can go to med school with that GPA, i feel bad for you. You will realize that Dental is every bit as difficult as med school and is more competitive to get in nowadays. If you are becoming a dentist because you dont think you would make it into med school and this is your backup plan i would suggest dropping out now. You will never cut it in Dental School.

i didn't respond to the person who said i can go to med school because i didn't even want to lead on a conversation about that crap.
i am NOT applying to dental schools for the reason you said above.
