Any advice on what I can do at this point to maximize my chances of acceptance?

How much networking have you had with medical school admissions recruiters? Did you talk to students about the school's mission and offerings that prepare students for rural medicine? How about other schools that have a rural medicine pathway?

You do have appropriately a lot of engineering experience so keep getting experience helping others in vulnerable populations. If you can, lighten up on teaching and tutoring... I think you have enough.

I thought that 7 seemed pretty low, but due to personal reasons, I really want to stay within a certain geographic radius to attend medical school, at least right now. If I am not accepted anywhere during this cycle, I will apply much more broadly next cycle, as my reason for staying in one region will not be as much of an issue by then.

So, I am willing to accept the risk that comes with applying to only 7 schools this cycle. Thank you for pointing that out though; if I am unsuccessful this cycle, I will beef up that number next time.
Gotta live your own priorities, just wanted it to be an informed decision.

Seriously though, great numbers. Good luck with every

I have seen you give this advice on multiple threads so far, and I was wondering your thoughts on the best way to go about this is? Just emailing the admissions email given on the school's website with some questions? Or is there a step I'm missing? (Feel free to move this to another thread I don't wanna cause this one to go off topic!)

Thank you for your response! I have not done much networking at all with admissions recruiters, but I can certainly work on that. I have toured Quillen once already, and I plan on attending an upcoming seminar which their dean of admissions is leading. Any other advice on how to successfully network with admissions recruiters? Maybe give them a phone call expressing interest?

Although I haven’t yet, I know one student at Quillen that I can meet to talk more about the school’s mission to train rural primary care physicians. I will plan on doing this soon.

I do not intend to work as an undergrad TA again, so I will be lightening up on teaching/tutoring to focus on other things.

Thanks again for the advice!

For starters, follow up with the people you met on the tour. Followup with the admissions director by email. No phone calls unless it's okay by your contacts. We have to deal with privacy, and email offers the best (not perfect) way to get there. Followup with the students you know and try to get others to comment on the rural health track.

More non-clinical volunteering would help. I understand you want to stay in the region, but have you thought about VCU, EVMS, U Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, WVU, or Alabama? It just seems like 7 schools isn’t enough.

Sorry to respond after so long, and I should have requested this at the time, but would you mind deleting your quote of my original post? Thanks again for your advice by the way, both to me and to others. It does not go unappreciated!
are those cat cracking towers in your picture? Chem Eng is the hardest engineering major and you killed it. I am more impress with your gpa than your MCAT score.

Redacted most of your quoted post.
