Take some deep breaths and keep passing open windows. You are understandably anxious, as are so many others during these turbulent times. Unfortunately, anyone who says they can accurately predict what will occur with research opportunities or medical school admissions is deluding themselves or dealing in snake oil. I suspect you will have to live with uncertainty for at least a few months. During that time, do those things that help you stay sane, such as exercising, getting enough sleep, staying in virtual contact with your kitchen cabinet and the like. That said, my general advice is that you should take the time to ensure that you have the necessary grades, scores and ECs for an excellent application, rather than applying to medical school as fast as possible. Remember, if past is prologue, 60% of applicants each year do not obtain an admission to medical school.
