I think genetics will be really beneficial to my MCAT prep and I'd like to take it this summer if possible. Otherwise, I'd have to fit it into my foreseeably stuffed fall 2020/ spring 2021 schedule. Since genetics isn't a prereq will taking it online have any adverse effect on my admissions?

No one knows whether classes will return to normal come summer. Most likely, you'll be fine.

Many schools have already decided to have Summer classes online. As genetics isn't a prerequisite, I assume taking it online would fine. But I'm planning to take it online this Summer so I might be biased.

Taking non-prerequisite classes online in general doesn't negatively impact your application at all. With the pandemic and the craziness going on, I expect that to be even more true.

My undergrad just announced all classes for the summer will be online, even labs. Don’t be surprised if all universities follow.

It is very reasonable to take genetics online and I do recommend that you take it. You will need that knowledge in the future.

Genetics IS recommended for the MCAT. It's not a pre-req, but it's recommended--use your good judgment.

What colleges are y’all taking online genetics through? I am in Texas and have been looking for a course through local colleges with no luck.
