NoI imagine with COVID-19, in-person meetings are a no-go. Also, many adcoms are physicians and probably busy with patient care at the moment.
- Have your committees decreased staff or no?
- Have you paused meetings or are you going virtual?
- When it comes to the WL, will the entire committee play a role or is it now only a few people?
For sure we will not be shaking hands ever again. Elbow bumps forever.

And haven't we here on SDN advocated for this (or bows) for some years now?
Elbow bumps forever.
But I sneeze into my elbow 🤢
"Go To Meeting" is another conferencing option which has been around longer than Zoom and has fewer security issues (if any)This is the slow time in the office... everyone who applied in 2019 has received a decision, second look is over, just waiting to see if there is a need to go to the waitlist and that's a decision delegated to the dean of admissions. Some staff time spent on the 2020 secondary and procedures for the coming cycle. Some people might be thinking about how interviews will look in the fall if travel restrictions and social distancing are still required. For sure we will not be shaking hands ever again. Elbow bumps forever.
Come fall, adcom meetings may be on zoom. One thing that will be needed will be tight security so that privacy is preserved. As you may have heard, zoom has some privacy issues.
You probably have two elbows. Right for bumping; Left for cough or sneeze if no other options are available. But I sneeze into my elbow 🤢
I've always been partial to the "big toe maneuver" myself.I use my fists to press the elevator buttons. You don't want to fist bump me. 😉
