I feel like you would since someone with your stats would most likely go MD. Then again, DO schools can give you an early II and lock in your deposit to hold a seat as well.

N=1, but I got an interview at every DO school I applied to including NYITCOM with an MCAT score of 516 and a similar GPA.

I submitted with a 3.7x/3.5x and pending MCAT, which ended up being 519. I submitted to PCOM/LECOM/UNECOM/NYITCOM/Touro NY and had DO shadowing but no letter. + A lot of primary care-centered volunteering and I genuinely like these schools.

How likely is it that they'll disregard my app because the MCAT turned out above their average?

edit: Just to clarify a bit, while I know DO schools take high stat applicants, my concern is that they'd think because my sGPA especially was borderline for MD, that I applied to DO as backup, and now that my MCAT ended up high that I will stick with MD. As opposed to if I had just applied outright with my MCAT under my belt. Lmk if I'm totally overthinking lol
DO schools do NOT do resource protection.

Over this past year I interviewed quite a few people with sky high MCAT scores and GPAs.

Just adding another story to the pool to make you more confident - similar GPA and 515 MCAT.

I received 8 interviews out of 11 DO schools and I wasn’t complete until after Thanksgiving. I was accepted at every DO interview I attended.
