A 3.7 and a 3.6 are different ballparks. But whether or not it’s worth it for you to go into more debt is entirely up to you.
Also, remember that if you apply while trying to buff your clinical hours / volunteering / etc. that medical schools won’t see this - they’ll only see what hours you have.

I’d recommended to not apply to school without many hours and a 3.6.
 
I personally don't think it's worth delaying your graduation to raise your GPA a point or two. A better option would be to do a post-bacc year or get a Master's degree like an MPH degree. That way you start over with a fresh new GPA. Your GPA and MCAT scores are going to weigh the most on your med school application. Both, unfortunately, are much more important than volunteer work. Keep up the volunteering, but focus in on that GPA and MCAT. Also, make sure to apply on or before the deadline (very important!!).
